By Erik Murphy – President
I went to an MIT Enterprise forum dinner event a few weeks ago titled Social Media: Real Business Strategies for Success. My primary interest was to see a friend I had not seen in a while, but I found the program very intriguing.
A couple quick takeaways were that the primary social media tools discussed were Facebook and Twitter. I was surprised the focus was on just those two tools. I also found it interesting that the panelists all had an advertising versus technology bent.
Finally I realized the power of social media sites to present an authentic and true view of a company or product. By giving the users of a company or product the ability to give real, unvarnished feedback, through Facebook fan pages or tweets, these sites can reveal the nature and value of the product. The viewpoints and opinions are free from companies and/or advertisers manipulation making them in my opinion more valuable.
This last observation plays right into Murphy & Associates strength. We think we are the best agency in the Puget Sound area (we are not alone in this). We want to hear if you agree or think otherwise. While I do my best not to get sucked into Facebook, I have created a fan site for Murphy & Associates. My hope is that comments and opinions posted will help convince others of our value or give us areas where we can grow.
